Corn starch is also called maize starch, which is white slightly yellowish powder. After crushing corn with 0.3% sulfurous acid, it is made by crushing, sieving, precipitation, drying, and grinding. Ordinary products contain a small amount of trace amounts and protein, etc.
Corn/maize starch processing process
Corn → Cleaning → Steeping → First grinding → Degerminating(germ separation) → Second grinding → Sieving(fiber separation) → Protein separation → Refining(washing) → Centrifugal separation → drying, starch

Detailed introduction of corn starch production process
1.Cleaning
Clean corn contains various dust mustard, organic and inorganic impurities. In order to ensure safe production and product quality, impurities in corn must be cleaned up. The methods of cleaning corn mainly use screening and winnowing. Cleaning equipment includes vibrating screen, specific gravity stone removal machine, permanent magnet drum and wheat washing machine, etc.
2.Steeping
The corn soaking method generally uses several or dozens of metal tanks connected by pipes and combined, and the soaking water is circulated between the tanks with a water pump, and the soaking water is countercurrently soaked.
3.First grinding
The purpose of coarse crushing is mainly to break the soaked corn into more than 10 pieces in order to separate the germ.
Most corn coarse crushing uses a disc crusher. The coarse crushing can be divided into two parts. For the first time, the corn is broken to 4-6 pieces to separate the germ; the second time, the corn is broken to more than 10 pieces, so that all the germs fall off, and the germ is separated for the second time.
4.Degerminating
A hydrocyclone is used. This kind of separator is made of nylon, multiple separators are concentrated on a shelf, the placement is small, the production capacity is large, and the separation efficiency is high, which can reach more than 95%.
5. Second grinding
The mixture of corn shreds and part of starch after the germs are separated, in order to extract starch, it must be ground to destroy corn cells, free starch granules, and separate fiber and bran.
6.Sieving(fiber separation)
After the corn chips are ground, corn paste is obtained, and the starch can be separated from the coarse and fine residue by sieving. Commonly used screening equipment includes hexagonal screen, flat shake screen, curved screen and centrifugal screen.
7.Protein separation and washing
The concentration of starch milk after separation of coarse and fine residues is 6-8%, and the dry matter content is about 11-14%
8.Centrifugal separation and drying
The starch milk is sent to a centrifugal separator for dehydration, and a wet starch with a water content of 45% can be obtained. This wet starch can also be delivered as a finished product. In order to facilitate transportation and storage, it is best to dry the starch to reduce the moisture content of the starch to 12% of the equilibrium moisture. It is then shipped as a finished dry starch.
